HTC plans to purchase real estate around its Taoyuan Headquarters To establish HTC Campus

HTC Corp. (TAIEX: 2498; ”HTC”), the world's leading provider of Microsoft Windows Mobile-based smart devices, called for an emergency board meeting today (December 31st) and passed the resolution to purchase the real estate of the original Plants 2 and 3 of Hualon Corporation that was acquired by Syuda Construction Company, a related party, in January 2008 through court auction. The purchase price is NT$67,000 per ping, and the measure area of land is 11806.575 pings (1 ping =3.305785 m2).  The total purchase price is NT$791,910,000.
HTC’s Taoyuan headquarters have lacked employee dormitories, restaurants, parking lots, and entertainment spaces, which necessitated the purchase of peripheral buildings and land.  A large area for industrial use near the Taoyuan headquarters is rare. Therefore, after conducting the price appraisal by an appraisement company and found the price is reasonable, HTC decided to purchase the real estate to satisfy the company’s demand for office spaces.
HTC indicates that the construction is expected to start in September 2009 and the new buildings will be officially operated by the end of 2010. The real estate will be built to establish HTC Campus and offer HTC employees a great working, living, and dining environment and it is helpful for future expansion of HTC.
